Rebecca Hopkins: The Master of Arts in Special Education is really designed to effectively prepare our future teachers in Special Education classrooms, but also to better prepare classroom teachers to fully address all of the exceptionalities in their mainstream classrooms.

Sarah Weber: I chose Saint Mary's University because I wanted to do something more, earn my Masters, but then also finish up my Special Ed licensure.

Rebecca Hopkins: If you're a learner in the Master of Arts in Special Education program, that is, pursuing to be prepared for a license, this is a great way to provide yourself more marketability in your district. But it also gives you the kind of instructional leadership tools that you might need when you aspire to go on to administration later.

INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE
Rebecca Hopkins: Intercultural competence means you're a teacher that understands that all kids bring diverse, rich experiences to the classroom.

Sarah Weber: The program has further developed me as a teacher. It's given me a larger toolkit. I'm able to think on my feet, create lesson plans that are relevant to my classroom and the community of learners that I'm involved with.

Rebecca Hopkins: Inside of the Engage platform for the program, students are able to really collaborate in real time. They can send messages. They can post content. They can have discussions. They're checking in with their faculty member. And they have everything they need right at their fingertips.

Sarah Weber: The mobile aspect is huge. I can do my work whenever I want, 24/7. If I've got an hour in the morning, I can jump on, get some work done. We are in a fast-paced, technology-based world. This program has shaped the way I educate.
